Daddy, Potty Aree Hai : all voices played by Khurram A. Siddiqi. I did this at a hotel the night before an interview. I was bored, and this is a satirical take on the typical 'mod-squad' yuppie family in Pakistan and the issues they face as they're about to pull out of their driveway. The car effects are actually real samples of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, shamelessly taken from the Porsche.com website. It's in Urdish (Urdu+English; so if you're not bilingual then...oh shittles...you're out of luck.) |

Chingari- Soufia A. Siddiqi Remixed by Khurram A. Siddiqi. I made this using only two or three loops from my sister's solo above, and tossed in a bunch of effects, sounds and loops. |

Sapuri D.: The Promise of the Punjab I did this as part of a BPM magazine remix competition for Sasha. Of course I didn't win, but then again, I thought we were constrained to using only the loops and samples provided. For that matter, I think I was able to generate some amazing new sounds that were not part of the original .zip file posted for the competition. I called it the 'promise' because I was in the Punjab at that time waiting for my visa, and yes, I thought it would be promising. Drats. Next time. Third place for that competition actually went to a guy from Kuwait...pretty cool. As a consolation prize I won...drumroll please...a piddling half-year subscription to BPM magazine. |

Sapuri D: Gibranistani Pseudo. I was sitting in my living room in Lahore during the barsaat season. Rain was coming down and I was perusing through this collection of Khalil Gibran's stuff, and I read some passages from 'The Tempest', which I found amazing enough to motivate myself to go make a track from 'scratch'. You'll hear me in a terrible, terrible British accet, acting all pseduo-intellectual (hence the Pseudo in the track's title). There are voice samples on here of Salvador Allende (Chile's democratically elected, Marxist persident overthrown by the sneaky sneaky CIA's Augusto Pinochet on 9/11/1973), then Benazir Bhutto talking about not becoming exhausted with supporting 'mujahideen' in Afghanistan. I guess there must have been some crazy stuff going through my mind that day. The track is poorly mixed, unmastered, and a complete mush of samples and drum loops, but still takes me back to that rainy day in Lahore everytime I listen to it. |

Sapuri D.: 4 Desis in Las Vegas I made this using the AT&T Labs' text-to-voice conversion tool. I was sitting around bored in my apartment in LA, and I had just heard this stupendous story from a fellow Desi about 4 guys who went to Las Vegas in search of copious quantities of ass. I just wanted to convery the sense of frustration these guys must have felt when they came back empty handed from Las Vegas. I personally hate Vegas, specifically for reasons like these; guys on the hunt for what they couldn't score even if they paid for it! |

Sapuri D.: Snatch Revamp I went to watch this movie the night it came out, and that too not because I wanted to, but my buddy Karim Khayat dragged me to it. I loved it so much that I bought the soundtrack the very next day from Von's. Now, I think I only make friends with people who know Snatch line by line. I used many different sound clips and samples and put together crazy beats for this one. Done the night a set of homework on multiple random variables was due. You can see what held more importance...right? |

Sapuri D vs. Deadmau5 vs. Hybrid: Pakistani Symphony A take on a housey remix of one of the finest electronic- symphonic pieces ever made- originally by Hybrid, then remixed by Deadmau5, and me...who splooged my 'introspective' lyrics and sound clips all over it. The first part is from the manifesto from the now defunct right wing think tank, the 'Project for the New American Century'. All voices played by Sapuri D. |
